foodies club at pariwar

A depleted foodies club sans usual faces opted for a low key foodies meet at the oft visited pariwar in jayanagar...the new faces were agents kavita..and piyush (who joined back after a long time)...agent malavika tried drawing our attention to the much maligned cafe pascuccci and the new hotel 1947 (with rates from 2050)
but finally we decided that we had enough disasters aready and went for the safer option...,,,but  I'm in no mood to write a detailed review  for it was a silent dinner over neer dosae, phulkas and veg curries- paneer butter masala, veg jhalfrazi and dhal methi...agent sabari for unknown reasons decided to abstain from nonveg...and resisted intense craving for fish .... following dinner the saving grace was cothas coffee..following which all agents went back as silently as they came.. an overall rating of 5.5 for this joint...

N.E. DINER....

Today was one of those days you try for something and end with something totally mysterious yet not disconcerting in the end. The regulars of “Foodies club ” with couple of newbies set out to explore the Dosa Camp . As warned by one of our members it was crowded & we got token no. 62 (it was a road side shop for heaven sakes) .Tentative time given to us to quench our oral desires was about half an hour. When we have a SR on duty & couple of ever ravenous guys on board waiting for half an hour would be the last thing we would think of.

So “N.E.Diner” which was our fall-back option came into the picture & in no time we were there seated in this authentic north-east Indian cuisine restaurant in Koramangala. Malvika , the only veggie in the group had a tough time zeroing in on her menu as anticipated by rest of us all. She finally found her solace in Veg momos , steamed rice & some side dish made up of Lady’s finger (forgot the names of those dishes...i asked Malvika to note down those ...having got overwhelmed with the cuisine she must have forgotten to do that...! )

For rest of us it was hunting time. We started off with couple of Chicken starters , one named quite intriguingly “OK Chicken” (why not “Excellent Chicken” or “Scrumptious Chicken ” or “Yummy Chicken” ..! though it ended up as “Okay” kinda Chicken only ..!) & ‘Naga deep fried Pork’. The later was the best among em all.

So far so good though there was nothing prototypically “North-eastern” so far. Then came in the Main course where along with the routine Chinese stuff of mixed chicken-egg-vegetable Noodles & Fried rice , came in the ‘Fried Fish with Bamboo Stew’ & ‘some Chicken with Bamboo Stew’ along with the biggest mistake of em all ‘Fermented fish with herbs chutney’ which was an “Olfactory delight” to one and all! The Noodles & Fried rice were good while both the stews had an overwhelming Bambooish flavour which was repulsive to some while Mahaveer devoured it like there was no tomorrow.(hope he is not reading this..!) However ‘Fermented fish + herbs chutney’ had an instantaneous pukey response in everyone ended up being the “Untouchable”.

Meanwhile Malvika still trying her might to get something to satisfy her lingual craving ended up paying up for her rendezvous with the chopsticks & rice rather than anything else. Nishanth sir was equally entertaining with his antics with the chopsticks coached by Suresh sir.

The waiter needs a mention here for he was hard working & very courteous (as any North-eastern is). & we found out that his ‘raashi’ is ‘Aquarius’ for he kept on asking for the water to be filled every 5 minutes. Service wise it was one of the best we have experience so far , i should say.

The price was also not that expensive , we ended up paying Rs.170/head for a heavy dinner (Malvika excuse) & rounded of the day with the ‘most delectable coffee in town ’ at the A2B . Though we set out with a particular place in mind & ended up in a diametrically opposite place , as they say “All’s well that end’s well...!” , we came back with satisfaction.

The group rating : 6/10
